Barley is a fast-growing grain crop that is full of protein. It can be grown as green manure to improve soil and out-compete weeds. It can also be used as a sprout to eat, or as a plant. It is frost tolerant and can be planted for 2 crops a year.

• Cover Crop - Whole unhulled barley is an excellent choice to grow as an annual grain cover crop. It performs well in a lot of climates compared to other cereal grains. Can be interplanted with legumes to enrich the soil and suppress weeds.
• Animal and Human Food - Barley can be grown as animal feed, chicken fodder, cat grass, and as an edible cereal grain for humans. Barley stores well. Seeds can also be used for sprouting, malting, growing barley grass for juicing, or for grinding into flour.
